Rev. Brother Steve Hogan
Principal of La Salle College (2010-2016)

Brother Steve was born in New Zealand in 1961. In 1984 he graduated from Auckland University with a Bachelor of Arts, and took two Masters of Education, one in Religious Studies in 1995 and the other in Curriculum Studies in 1997, both from the Australian Catholic University.

Up to now Brother Steve has been a teacher, religious educator and curriculum coordinator, vice principal and, for five years, Principal of various Lasallian schools in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. As the Principal of De La Salle College, Mangere East, in Auckland, Brother Steve brought the college to new heights. The college is an all boys¡¦ school with a student population of over 1000. Many of the students were either born in the Pacific Islands or descendants therefrom. Under Brother Steve¡¦s leadership the school won many awards, most notably national awards for value-added academic success and for rugby. Brother Steve himself is a keen supporter of academic, cultural and sporting activities.

While all this was going on, the management members of La Salle College, Kowloon, Hong Kong, were searching for a suitable principal and were relieved when Brother Steve applied. He was successful in his application and became the principal of this very well-known school on 1st September 2010.

Brother Steve soon left his mark. He maintains a rigorous academic standard as well as giving strong support to cultural, sporting and all other extra-curricular activities. There has been an upsurge of standards and achievements at all levels. Brother Steve makes a point of attending as many school activities as possible which makes for intricate time management at times. On top of that, he promotes a global vision for the school and has arranged links and exchanges with educational centres all over the world. The school is throbbing with purposeful activity.

To say that Brother Steve is a busy man would be an understatement.
