Location : La Salle Primary
The grotto to Our Lady of Lourdes used to overlook the playground of the old La Salle Primary. Although footballs flew in all directions Our Lady was strangely undisturbed.
The grotto was blessed in 1961 by the then Parish Priest of St. Teresa's Church, Fr. Orlando.
Before strong winds or typhoons the statue would be taken down and safely stored until the danger was past.
In 1858 Our Lady appeared 18 times to a 14 year old girl called Bernadette Soubirous, in Lourdes, France. Our Lady called for penance, prayer and conversion of heart. She also revealed herself as I am the Immaculate Conception. When she told Bernadette to dig a hole in the ground, a spring gushed forth, which still flows today. It provides the pilgrims with water baths and many healing miracles have been recorded.
The feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes is February 11th.
