1 April 2009
Greetings Brothers as Holy Week approaches and we celebrate the death and Resurrection of Jesus.
ETERNAL REST OF BR BAPTIST CROOS FSC: The death of Br Baptist Croos of the District of Colombo was notified earlier. As Brother Visitor of the District of Colombo in two periods, he was involved in PARC and in addition to serving in Sri Lanka and Pakistan in his own District, he was also a staff member at La Salle Novitiate, Lipa where his extensive experience and utmost commitment to the vocation of the Brother was indeed a model for all to aspire towards. His knowledge, expression and teaching of English inspired all with whom he came unto contact. His eloquent addresses, touched with a tint of humour, delivered on numerous occasions throughout the Institute were a delight. His influence beyond the Institute upon the Church and politics in Sri Lanka were indicative of a man with an understanding of the issues and of social justice. During the past year when I visited Mutwal, I could see that he was suffering; but never a word of complaint crossed his lips. His cheerfulness and utmost interest in the other always shone. He now joins the communion of saints as a powerful intercessor for the Institute and in particular the District of Colombo and the country of Sri Lanka, both of which he loved dearly. May out Brother Baptist rest in peace.
