Easter greetings to all Lasallians.
Welcome Bro Vicar General: Bro Thomas Johnson is currently in Bangkok to apply for a Visa to enter Myanmar where he will give the Annual Retreat to the Brothers and participate in the ritual closing of the Sub-District.
Holy Week Retreat Philippines: I have just returned from a very inspirational Holy Week Retreat and ritual closing of the District with the Brothers. The theme for the retreat was; “Celebrating 100 Years, Continuing the Legacy as LEAD”. Through various presentations and the sharing of stories the Brothers fittingly celebrated their heritage and looked also at the challenges ahead. The liturgies were very uplifting. During the Easter Vigil nine Brothers renewed their Temporary Vows and Bro Visitor commissioned the communities for the coming year. A final social honoured Jubilarians including the 70th Jubilee of Bro Harry Reynolds.
Visitor of District of Vietnam: Bro Peter Phat was installed as Visitor and Bro Joseph as Auxiliary Visitor in a ceremony at Mai Thon on the Feast of St John Baptist De La Salle.
Perpetual Professions Thailand: Brothers Francis Suriya and Dominic Chamlong will profess their Perpetual Vows on Sunday 8 May at Bangna.
First Vows and Renewal of Vows India: Novice Gabriel will profess his First Vows on 30 April at the end of the Delegation of India retreat. Twenty six Brothers will renew their Temporary Vows during the retreat.
Renewal of Vows Papua New Guinea: During the next few weeks three Brothers in PNG will renew their Temporary Vows; Brothers Thomas (ANZPPNG), Brinesh and Antony Doss of the Delegation of India.
Thailand Postulants in Singapore: Three Postulants from the Delegation of Thailand are currently spending six weeks residing at the St Patrick’s community while studying English at a local language school.
District of Colombo Honours Cardinal: On 6 May the District of Colombo in a ceremony at St Benedict’s College will honour Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo who was created a Cardinal on November 21, 2010. His Eminence is an Old Boy of De La Salle College, Mutwal.
Inauguration of LEAD: The Inauguration of LEAD will take place at St Joseph’s Institution in Singapore on 15 May. Archbishop Nicholas Chia will celebrate the Eucharist which will be followed by the Ceremony of Inauguration presided over by Bro Thomas Johnson, Vicar General.
Lasallian Womens Symposium: The planning group meets in Kuala Lumpur later in the week.
