HABIT TAKING AND ACCEPTANCE OF NOVICES LIPA: Brothers, other Lasallians, family and friends gathered yesterday in large numbers for the ceremony in Capilla de La Salle, Lipa. Several Aspirants from the Sector of the Philippines were present also. The main celebrant of the Eucharist was Fr Oscar, Chancellor of the Archdiocese and novitiate chaplain. Bro Ambrose Payne, Visitor of ANZPPNG delivered the shared reflection after the Gospel, weaving well the themes of the readings, the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ and the occasion. A copy of his reflection will be circulated shortly. Bro David Hawke accepted 10 first year novices and Brothers Ambrose and Edmundo, Visitors, gave the Habit to their respective novices. Bro Tharshan of the District of Colombo was welcomed into the second year group. This was a very inspirational occasion well prepared by the novices and enhanced by the choir of the LasallianFormation Community, Greenhills.

NOVICES IN PARC: The Region is blessed having 16 novices at Lipa, 1 in the USA and 7 in Vietnam. Let us keep them and their formators in our prayers.

APPOINTMENT ACTING DIRECTOR OF NOVICES LIPA:Bro Vincent Keating of the District of ANZPPNG is appointed Acting Director of Novices effective May 2012. After seven years at the novitiate Bro Rory will finish up next year. PARC 35 will provide an opportunity for the Visitors to express their thanks to him.

FORMATION OF FORMATORS PROGRAMME:Bro Joseph Fernando has been in touch regularly with all Sectors sending participants. The formation of future formators is a priority for the Institute and the Region.

BROTHERS FROM PARC STUDYING IN THE USA: Bro Christy Croos (Colombo) and Bro Ferdinand (India) are about to commence their studies at St Mary’s University of Minnesota. Bro Bill Mann, President has granted them scholarships. They will also attend Buttimer and Bro Christy will undertake also some formation studies funded by PARC.

OLD BOY CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT: Dr Tony Tan, former head prefect of St Patrick’s School and former student of St Joseph’s Institution is standing as a candidate in the elections for President of the Republic of Singapore. Dr Tan was a long serving member of parliament, cabinet member and deputy Prime minister of the country.

DIRECTORS WORKSHOP VIETNAM: Later in the week Bro Vincent Keating will conduct a workshop for Directors of communities in the District of Vietnam.

PERPETUAL PROFESSIONS DISTRICT OF VIETNAM: On Wednesday, the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, Brothers Andrew Simon Tran Van Thien, Joseph Nguyen Hong Hung and Joseph Nguyen The Anh will profess their Perpetual Profession at Mai Thon. Keep these Brothers in your prayers.

WELCOME BRO CARL CLAYTON:Bro Carl Clayton of the District of Eastern North America has arrived in Lipa, Philippines and will work in the high school and novitiate.

PARC LASALLIAN LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE: This year’s programme commences next week. There has been a very good response from the Region and special thanks to those Sectors who have sponsored Delegates. Do follow up the Delegates from your Sector upon their return.

PARC SUBSCRIPTIONS: I have asked Bro Ambrose Payne to send invoices to Districts/ Delegation. The new system of funding for the PARC office will commence as agreed at PARC 34 in 2013.
