District of Eastern North America Retreat: Very early this morning I returned from the USA where I attended the DENA “Called to be Brothers” retreat. To be with 247 Brothers for five days was an enriching experience. The climax of the week was the first profession of four novices. The DENA website www.fscdena.org will have copies of all the presentations uploaded next week. I have written for “Hearts on Fire” on the vocations ministry efforts in the District. Having shared this experience I am hopeful of vocations to the Brothers’ life being reignited in the western world. Bro Dennis Malloy, Visitor of DENA is very open to Brothers of the District working in PARC. In 2012 two Brothers of the District will come to PARC. I met with them.
Bro John Pill: Bro John has been granted an Employment Pass by the Ministry of Manpower in Singapore which clears the way for him to work in the PARC office and reside in the St Patrick’s community. John will meet with me this week. I am grateful to the Bro Visitor of LEAD and the Brothers in Singapore for supporting this appointment. Bro Collin Wee did much of the work with MOM.
PARC at Buttimer: Brothers Christy Croos (Colombo), Ferdinand (India), Francis Chaochaiyapat (Thailand), Tony Cummins (Australia) and Mr Martin Chamberlain (New Zealand) attended the recent Buttimer programme at St Mary’s, Moraga. I am grateful to the USA/Toronto Region for sponsoring some of these participants.
PARC Website: Marc Gepaya of the Philippines sector of LEAD is currently constructing a website for PARC. He has 50% of the work completed and will finish the task within the month. I am sure many will agree that it is not before time!
District of Colombo Retreat: Bro Vincent Keating is in the District of Colombo this week as presenter at the retreat.
Circular on Bro Michael Jacques: Bro Vincent Corkery (LEAD) has written the draft of the Circular on the late former Bro Assistant Michael Jacques. This will be edited in Rome after the summer break and translated into other languages prior to distribution. Thanks so much to Vincent.
