Greetings on this day when the Church remembers St Francis of Assisi the great promoter of peace. This reminds us also that the International Council of Young Lasallians are at this time promoting the Lasallian Days of Peace.

Welcome: Bro Joseph Fernando arrives in Manila on the 7th October to visit the PARC novitiate and formation houses in the Philippines Sector of LEAD. Welcome back to Bro Mark Murphy after his month’s leave in the USA.

Lasallian East Asia District: The presence of the District Council in Hong Kong on 1 October was a fitting occasion to celebrate the blessing and opening of the District Office (Provincialate). The recent edition of LEAD Story 22 gives further details. For those of you who know the 5th floor at La Salle, the former library and meeting room have been transformed tastefully to provide state of the art accommodation for the LEAD team. Congratulations to Bro Edmundo Fernandez and his collaborators.

Sector of Thailand (LEAD) Celebrates 60 Years: Bro Stephen Kan, Sector Leader of Thailand has advised that a celebration to mark 60 years of Lasallian presence in Thailand, will be held at Bangna on 28 November. Congratulations to the Brothers and other Lasallians in Thailand. It is fitting that during this celebratory year, the Bro Visitor of LEAD has requested permission of the Superior General to open a community of three Brothers at the Bamboo School.

Sectors of Malaysia and Singapore:Plans are well underway in both Sectors for the celebration of 160 years of the Lasallian presence in Asia. The Penang celebrations will be during and just after the LEAD Chapter in late March and early April while Singapore is planning April celebrations which hopefully will include the presence of President Tan.

Bro Inego Amalan:Bro Amalan of the Delegation of India who works in Mannar recently made the voyage from Tuticorin in India to Colombo, Sri Lanka via sea on an overnight journey. Bro Inego must be the first Brother to journey by sea between the two countries since the days of the pioneering Brothers who travelled from Sri Lanka to India. This new ferry service commenced recently.
