26 November 2011
WELCOME BRO JORGE: Bro Jorge (General Councillor) will be in the Sector of Japan (LEAD) from 28 November until 4 December. He has to return annually to Japan to renew his residency visa. Unfortunately he is unable to attend the LEAD Assembly due to other international commitments. He is Bro Superior’s representative on the Solidarity with Southern Sudan project, has other responsibilities to assist in RELAF and is in demand to present at retreats in RELAL.
LASALLIAN SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETS IN SINGAPORE: The committee met for two days, 21-22 November covering an extensive agenda. The Chairman, Bro Mark Murphy welcomed two new members; James Camden of the International Council of Young Lasallians and Bro John Pill, recently appointed Director of Lasallian Services. The outcomes of the meeting will be reported during PARC 35. An evening social function honoured Vanessa Abella who completes her term on ICYL and hence the LSC of PARC. Thanks to the communities of St Patrick’s and St Joseph’s Institution who accommodated and hosted members.
APLEC 8: The conference commences in Manila on 4 December. Around 90 participants from Australia, Colombo, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand have registered. Included in the programme is an exposure component with 10 Lasallian schools in the Sector of the Philippines (LEAD) participating.
THAILAND 60 YEARS CELEBRATIONS: The postponed function will now take place at La Salle Bangna on 19 December. With regret many who were to attend this week are unable to attend in December. This includes me and Bro Mark Murphy from the PARC office. We congratulate the Sector of Thailand (LEAD) on this occasion.
BAMBOO SCHOOL THAILAND: Bro Superior has approved the opening of a community of three Brothers at the Bamboo School. This is a fitting moment as Thailand celebrates 60 years.
