31 July 2012

PARC Young Brothers Assembly: The very successful assembly concluded on Friday evening and by now you will have heard first hand from the delegates who attended. The assembly reflected very well the theme: “Brothers without Borders.”

During the five days the Brothers through a process of presentations, group sharing and plenary sessions, shared on various themes pertaining to the life of the Brother with each theme linked to the draft of the revised Rule in presentations by Bro Michael Valenzuela. Reconnections were made and new ones formed with a vibrant fraternal spirit present throughout. One of the many highlights was the final statement proposed first by a writing committee and finalized by all which reflects well what was shared by the participants throughout the week. Bro Richie will share this statement with PARC and it will be included on the agenda of PARC 36. It will serve also as input to the international assembly of young Brothers to be held in July, 2013 at Dasmarinas in the Philippines (LEAD). The hospitality and generosity of the Brothers and others in the Lasallian Family in the country was superb. The organizing committee of Brothers Richie, Frank and Dominic from LEAD and Kennedy from India did a splendid job. Above all, thanks to all the Brothers who participated so well.. The Region has every reason to be proud of its young Brothers. In time documents and photos will be on various websites in the Region.

District Chapter ANZPPNG: The District Chapter held in Sydney during the second week of July concluded a series of Chapters held in PARC prior to the 45th General Chapter. The Chapter decided to formalize Pakistan as an Area of the District which was a momentous decision following a period of transition. A significant decision established a Mission Council that provides a prototype for the Lasallian Mission of an effective response to canonical and civil realities in this vast geographical District. A fitting tribute was paid to Bro Ambrose Payne who concludes his appointment as Visitor in December, 2012. The final Mass ritualized the appointments of the Brothers Visitor and Auxiliary Visitor and the newly elected District Council. Bro Mark McKeon, Visitor designate will have an official installation ceremony on 25th January, 2013.

Restructuring Meeting Colombo: On 7 August there will be an assembly of Brothers of the District of Colombo to reflect further on restructuring. A committee of Brothers from India will attend also as the Delegation examines further this issue. Brothers Ambrose (ANZPPNG), Dodo (LEAD) and Shahzad (ANZPPNG) will share their experiences of the process and respond to questions proposed in advance by the Brothers from Colombo. Bro Mark McKeon, Visitor designate will be in attendance.

Institute of Spiritual Formation of Asia (ISFA): Bro Emmanuel Nicholas, Director has sent me a report and photograph from the second semester of the ISFA programme. Further information on the formation programmes can be obtained by emailing: isfabjm@yahoo.com

PARC Office: This week the PARC staff is reviewing the “PARC Strategic Direction 2012 - 2015” document presented at PARC 36.During November there will be a meeting of all the PARC representatives on International Councils just prior to the Lasallian Services Committee meeting. It is highly likely that the PARC office staff will be presenting a revised structure and membership of LSC to PARC 36 in order to reflect better current realities and needs in the Region.

Hearts on Fire: Bro John Pill reports that the second edition is about to be circulated.

Calendars: Bro David: 6-7 August, Colombo meetings. 8-20 August, Canonical Visits, India. Bro John: 7-16 August, Review of Mission Process, India.
